About the Item

Stunning Banksy Skull and Paintbrushes Print in pink color. Super rare print part of Banksy history that are very hard to find. Released in 2010 at Paul Insects Unclear Residents show by Pictures On Walls (POW) the legendary print house in London. These screenprints were mostly printed with the skull being black but other colors were also made such as this pink, blue, purple and some others. The colored versions are very rare to find. A painted version of the skull artwork was also in Banksy’s studio and can be seen in Banksy’s movie Exit Through the Gift Shop. This version of the Skull was also used as the official logo for some time by POW. Other artists in the POW group have also painted the Skull and Paintbrushes motif in their own style such as Paul Insect, Ben Eine and more. Some of these were also pasted around London during this time making these a great part of the POW street art story. Screenprint in color on thin paper paste up paper. The pink on this print is great quality and has a slight gloss. Please note: These prints do not qualify for Pest Control COA.

"Lucky Number Pink" Original Colorful Skull Martini Bones Dice Pop Art
By Gary John
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles street artist Gary John exploded onto the international art scene first during Art Basel Miami in 2013. John’s playfully bold work quickly gained attention and he was named one of 20 standout artists at the 2014 NY Affordable Art Fair. His contemporary artworks continue to be exhibited at major international art fairs in the United States, Asia and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Celebrities and major art collectors worldwide have acquired his timeless artworks, which have seen a significant increase in value. John applied mixed media onto board to create this one-of-a-kind original artwork measuring 28 inches high by 22 inches wide. This mixed media artwork is signed and dated by the artist in the lower left corner using the first two letters of his first and last name "GA JO". This artwork is not framed. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Gary John has been a street artist since 1985. Originally from Seattle, Washington, he moved to Venice Beach, Los Angeles in 2003 and began selling on the Venice boardwalk. After almost 10 years on the boardwalk and experiencing “a bout with homelessness,” he was discovered and his artistic career took off with great success. He references this success in every artwork he makes. Along the left side of the artwork he paints a series of circles joined together by an arrow pointing up. Each circle represents a stepping stone on the path of success that keeps growing to greater heights. On the right side he depicts a line of houses, expressing the joy he finds in the stability of a home. His street artworks have a whimsical yet exciting and bold quality, inspired by classic cartoon and comic book characters rendered with acrylic paint in a bold graffiti style, on newspaper, board or other media. His choice of newspapers reflects the diversity of his Los Angeles surroundings, including Korean language newspapers, which have become equally collected as his artworks on English language newspapers. John cites Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat as his artistic inspiration. Other influences are comic books and American pop culture. His original artworks add a new face to the continuous popularity of pop art. John says...

Skulls, 1976 (FS.II.159)
By Andy Warhol
Located in Greenwich, CT
Skulls (FS.II.159) is a screenprint on paper with an image size of 30 x 40 inches, signed 'Andy Warhol' and annotated lower left. From the edition of 60, numbered 50/50 (there were also 10 APs), and framed in a custom, closed-corner, gold-leaf frame. Catalogue - Feldman Schellmann, #159 (II.159 Skulls 1976) Andy Warhol’s Skulls from 1976 are part of the transition he began initially in 1972 with the Mao series – incorporating hand-drawn lines into the image – and with Ladies and Gentlemen and Mick Jagger in 1975 where he began the print process with his own photographs rather than appropriated ones. Additionally, in the 1975 prints, he began using collaged elements – torn paper, photographic elements, etc. Donna de Salvo writes about the Skulls series, “Skulls (II.157 – 160) lies somewhere between the genres of still life and portraiture and is based on a photograph of a skull taken by Warhol’s studio assistant, Ronnie Cutrone. The theme of skulls became a major preoccupation for Warhol, and he produced numerous versions of it in paintings. In this image, Warhol combined all three pictorial forms...
