About the Item

Original lithograph on paper Bears the AWAAB and Estate of Andy Warhol stamps, on verso Annotated with initials 'LC' and a unique authenticity number in pencil, on verso Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. paper size: 36.2 x 25.4 cm Framed : 50 x 39 cm with 92% UV non reflective art glass This original lithograph by Andy Warhol from around 1957, comes from the artist's estate. Related to Warhol's personal project, "A Gold Book," this delicate work depicts a hand holding a branch of flowers. The work is made even more unique by Warhol's inclusion of six fingers on the hand. This example of Warhol's whimsical drawing is emblematic of the style that made him one of the most sought-after commercial illustrators in New York City in the 1950s, before his rise to Pop Art fame. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a lithograph from Warhol's personal collection. Andy Warhol, the leading figure of the Pop Art movement, left an indelible mark on the art world with his graphic work. Renowned for his unique approach to mass production and consumer culture, Warhol's graphic art reflects his fascination with popular imagery. His iconic silkscreen prints, such as the Campbell's Soup Cans and Marilyn Monroe series, exemplify his use of mass-media subjects and repetition. Warhol's graphic works often featured bold, vibrant colours, precise lines, and a detached, almost machine-like quality that challenged traditional notions of artistic creation. Beyond his prints, Warhol utilized graphic design in magazine illustrations, album covers, and advertisements, collaborating with musicians like The Velvet Underground. His exploration of everyday objects and celebrities through graphic techniques revolutionized the art world and influenced broader cultural perceptions of art, fame, and commercialism. Andy Warhol's graphic work remains a testament to his ingenuity and ability to turn the ordinary into extraordinary through the lens of pop culture.
