"Corralled Horse" is a 1940s WPA-era modernist etching by acclaimed American artist Ethel Magafan (1916–1993), renowned for her dynamic murals and evocative depictions of the American West. This rare artist’s proof features a lone dark horse in a wooden corral, rendered in bold, expressive lines that reflect the strength and simplicity of rural life. The composition embodies the spirit of New Deal art and American modernism. Professionally presented in a custom frame, the work measures 19 x 23 inches overall; image size is 10 x 14 inches. Provenance: Estate of the Artist, Ethel Magafan. About the Artist: Magafan was a Colorado-born muralist and Fulbright Scholar whose work appears in the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and post offices across the U.S. She was elected to the National Academy of Design in 1968.
