About the Item

Figures with Half-Moon is an original modern artwork realized in the first half of the 20th Century by the Italian artist Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 - Rome, 1989). Original woodcut on paper. Very good conditions. The artwork represents figures with a half-moon in black and white, realized by the most famous Italian satirical artist of the 20th Century: Mino Maccari. This artwork depicted by mastery of applying contrast by lines and forms through well-defined black and white. The whole composition is vibrant, with its intense black, sharp lines, and top-notch chromatic brilliance, and a mesmerizing optical illusion, making the artwork perfectly stand out. Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 – Rome, 1989). Maccari was a popular Italian painter and engraver. He produced many artworks through different graphic techniques. He exhibited at important international exhibitions in the fields of art and graphics. In 1959, he became the director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome; in 1963, he won Antonio Feltrinelli's prize for painting and became president of the San Luca Academy. He realized many lithographs and etchings of satirical and political subject matters. He was also famous for erotic and sexual drawings. He has worked for many years at Il Mondo.
