Richard Serra Biography
Richard Serra was born in 1938 in San Francisco and lives and works in New York and the North Fork of Long Island. His first significant solo exhibition was held at the Leo Castelli Warehouse, New York, in 1969. His first solo museum exhibition took place at the Pasadena Art Museum in 1970. Serra has since participated in numerous international exhibitions, including documenta (1972, 1977, 1982, and 1987) in Kassel, Germany; the Venice Biennales of 1980, 1984, 2001, and 2013; and the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Annual and Biennial exhibitions of 1968, 1970, 1973, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1995, and 2006.

The artwork is in very good condition, frame and matting are in good condition, frame have some minor dents, matting have a small point of discoloration at upper left.
About the artist.
Antoine Calbet is the son of Marie Singlande and Jean-Baptiste Calbet, landowner at a place called Gaubert.
Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier by Édouard - Antoine Marsal (1845-1929) where he learned drawing, this illustrator and illustrator, a painter of nudes and gallant scenes, was very popular during his lifetime.
Antoine Calbet is then admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris in the studio of Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889). He was a member of the admission jury of the Beaux-Arts from 1913 to 1930. He began to exhibit in 1880 and became a member of the Society of French Artists . He was the friend of his compatriot of Lot-et-Garonne, the President of the Republic Armand Fallières , for which he drew the menus of his meals, which made him known in Parisian salons.He illustrated works by Jean Lorrain , Henri de Regnier , Pierre Loues 3 and for periodicals like L'Illustration .

Victor Vasarely (French/Hungarian, 1906–1997) is known as the father of the Op Art movement. As a painter, he created intricate abstractions that suggested depth and dimensionality using a variety of optical illusions, with surfaces seeming to bulge out of the canvas. His works present color, form, and pattern as a single interconnected element—a concept that was critical to the foundation of the Op Art movement and the focus of his mature works.
Vasarely initially studied medicine at the Budapest University in his early 20s, only to abandon his medical studies to attend to the Muhely Academy, the center of the Bauhaus movement in Budapest. While there, he was profoundly influenced by the work of color theorist and artist Josef Albers, as well as the Constructivist methods promoted by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky. While Vasarely’s earlier work was concerned more with color theory, during the 1950s and 1960s his work became more focused on the optical potential of the two-dimensional surface. He began to use complex and colorful patterns to actively engage the viewer’s eye, and to convey a sense of kinetic energy across the two-dimensional surface.

ANOTHER DAY is an original limited edition woodcut by the American painter and sculptor, Otto Neals. The woodblock used to print ANOTHER DAY was hand carved by Otto Neals and printed in shades of brown, light blue, beige, and black on archival Rives BFK printmaking paper, 100% acid-free, enhanced with hand colored accents. ANOTHER DAY is a dramatic, contemporary black couple portrait portraying a man and woman standing back to back, the woman's arm raised up and pointing in front of her. She wears a stark white, bell-sleeved dress and large teardrop shaped dangle earrings and bangle bracelet, set against a dramatic natural wood grain patterned background, a large potted plant positioned on the table in the foreground. Victor Vasarely (French/Hungarian, 1906–1997) is known as the father of the Op Art movement. As a painter, he created intricate abstractions that suggested depth and dimensionality using a variety of optical illusions, with surfaces seeming to bulge out of the canvas. His works present color, form, and pattern as a single interconnected element—a concept that was critical to the foundation of the Op Art movement and the focus of his mature works.
Vasarely initially studied medicine at the Budapest University in his early 20s, only to abandon his medical studies to attend to the Muhely Academy, the center of the Bauhaus movement in Budapest. While there, he was profoundly influenced by the work of color theorist and artist Josef Albers, as well as the Constructivist methods promoted by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky. While Vasarely’s earlier work was concerned more with color theory, during the 1950s and 1960s his work became more focused on the optical potential of the two-dimensional surface. He began to use complex and colorful patterns to actively engage the viewer’s eye, and to convey a sense of kinetic energy across the two-dimensional surface.
