Crocodile Cymbalist
Located in Greenwich, CT
Edition of 9 Comes attached to a black steel base. Bjørn Okholm Skaarup was born in Rudkøbing, Denmark in 1973. From 1994 to 2004, Skaarup was an artist at the Danish National Museum, Copenhagen, before moving to Florence and receiving a PhD from the European University Institute in 2009. While in Florence, he studied the work of Renaissance sculptors Donatello, Cellini, and Giambologna, learning the vanishing art of large-scale bronze casting. He also wrote and illustrated books on history, archaeology, and anatomy. In 2012, Skaarup was commissioned by the Koldinghus Museum, Kolding, a former Danish royal residence, to create four large reliefs depicting scenes from the life of Christian IV of Denmark. Skaarup was given his first solo U.S. museum exhibition at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut, in 2015. That same year, the Collectivité of St. Barth acquired a suite of ten animal sculptures for public display throughout the island. In 2017, Skaarup's 15 foot tall monumental sculpture, Hippo Ballerina, was installed in front of Lincoln Center at Dante Park in NYC, in partnership with NYC Parks Art in the Parks program. The artist's now beloved sculpture has been exhibited throughout NYC, next to the iconic Flatiron building, in front of Grand Central Terminal in Pershing Square, and most recently in Stamford, CT in front of the Ferguson Library. Inspired by Degas’ Little Dancer...

'Boxing Hares' Bronze Sculpture of two fighting hares, patinated brown, wildlife
Located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire
'Boxing Hares' by Tobias Martin is a Solid Bronze Animal Sculpture. Tobias Martin was born in 1972 in Wiltshire, 12 miles from Stonehenge. Influenced by his idyllic rural upbringing, and the forces of nature and magic that permeated his childhood surroundings, these works have something of the mystical about them. Each piece is approached with precise observation and an acute interest in the minutiae of the subject matter, manipulating the material with a delicacy and lightness of touch. Despite being realised in heavy materials such as bronze, the resulting piece achieves a sense of movement and character that conveys the essential spirit of the animal. Inspired by the work of Grinling Gibbons and Alfred Gilbert...

Gray Whale
Located in Kansas City, MO
Grace Khalsa Gray Whale Medium: Black stoneware and white slip Year: 2021 Size: 25" x 13" x 6.5" Description: Slip-trailed skeleton sculpture Signed COA provided (by representing gallery) ------------------------------ ARTIST STATEMENT “We humans are poised between microcosm and macrocosm, containing one, sensing the other, comprehending both.” - Frank Wilczek The focus of my work is to bring attention to natural forms and patterns that implicate vast interconnection. I am captivated by the diversity and intricacy of natural systems and I consistently find myself searching for commonalities within them. These commonalities provide me with a tangible form of navigating the intangible perceptions of existence. My most recent body of work examines and illustrates the skeletons of various animals. In looking closely at their anatomy, I find undeniable similarities indicating common evolution. Shared spines, ribs, teeth and vestigial structures are the signatures of millions of years of complex relationships. After sculpting the body of the animal, I then meticulously slip-trail each skeletal detail layer by layer. This process requires an understanding of how every layer, however small, will affect the greater whole. I see clay as a material of ‘deep time’ both in a geological and cultural sense. Fired clay, ceramic, is an archival material, a record keeper of human history. Taking the role of a scientific illustrator, these works are my mark in time, paying homage to the creatures they portray. I hope to highlight the pervasive entanglement of life and honor the delicate, nuanced relationships that exist between human and non-human. BIO Grace Khalsa is a ceramic artist from Knoxville, TN. She is currently an Artist in Residence at the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino, CA. Khalsa received her BFA in Art Practices with minors in Art History and Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has completed two years of Post-Baccalaureate study in ceramics, one year at the University of Colorado Boulder and one at Louisiana State University. Khalsa has exhibited work at the Artists Co-Op of Mendocino, Ann Connelly...

Fruit Bat
Located in Kansas City, MO
Grace Khalsa Fruit Bat Medium: Black stoneware and white slip Year: 2021 Size: 28" x 10" x 3" Description: Slip-trailed skeleton sculpture Signed COA provided (by representing gallery) ------------------------------ ARTIST STATEMENT “We humans are poised between microcosm and macrocosm, containing one, sensing the other, comprehending both.” - Frank Wilczek The focus of my work is to bring attention to natural forms and patterns that implicate vast interconnection. Contemporary Wildlife Polar Bear Sculpture 'Benji' by Tobias Martin
Located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire
'Benji' by Tobias Martin is a Solid Bronze Animal Sculpture. Inspired by the work of Grinling Gibbons and Alfred...
