Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America is a vetted community of more than 180 top-tier galleries across the United States. Working with these member galleries, ADAA appraisers offer assessment services for artworks spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. The ADAA also arranges public forums on important art-related topics and hosts The Art Show, presented each year at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, which stands out among art fairs for its acclaimed selection of curated booths — many of which are one-artist exhibitions.

His allegorical Art Nouveau works often depicted women, children, cherubs, and historical figures adorned with floral motifs and ornaments, and were influential to other artists working at the time. Born in Dijon, France in 1855 to a celebrated family of sculptors, including his father Auguste Moreau, he went on to regularly exhibit his work at the Paris Salon from 1861 on. The artist died in 1919 in France. Carrara marble - is a type of white or blue-grey marble popular for use in sculpture and building decor. It is quarried at the city of Carrara in the province of Massa-Carrara (Tuscany, Italy). Carrara marble has been used since the time of Ancient Rome; the Pantheon and Trajan's Column in Rome are constructed of it. Many sculptures of the Renaissance, such as Michelangelo's David, were carved from Carrara marble. For Michelangelo at least, Carrara marble was valued above all other stone, except perhaps that of his own quarry in Pietrasanta. The Marble Arch in London and the Duomo di Siena are also made from this stone, as are the interiors of Manila Cathedral, the cold-white marbles of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the campus of Harvard Medical...

French Bulldog Doorstop. Hubley, American, circa 1920s
By Hubley Manufacturing Company 2
Located in Incline Village, NV
This full figured cast iron, hand painted doorstop, is known as "French Bulldog" and was made by The Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, circa 1920s. A pleasing facial expression (see image) and realistic body creases and characteristics, reveals an accurate rendition of the French bulldog. With it's substantial weight, it can be utilized as a wonderful doorstop to decorate with, or simply put on a shelf for display. Beautifully cast and hand painted in colors of black and white, with brown eyes; this doorstop is in very good condition and is completely authentic with no restoration of any kind, and in all original paint. Note the tight seam where it is held closely together by the original screw on one side of the dog. It is referenced in "The Doorstop Book" by John and Nancy...

Indian Chief Hood Ornament Guy Motors. British, circa 1920s
By Guy Motors
Located in Incline Village, NV
Actual original hood ornament of an Indian in full head dress, entitled and embossed "Feathers in Our Cap". Guy Motors embossed at the front base. The automobile manufacturer "Guy Motors" was established in 1914 in Wolverhampton, England in 1914. They adopted the slogan "Feathers in Our CAP" with the Native American motif in full head dress in 1924. They went into receivership in 1932 so the CAP dates from right around that era. There are many reproductions of this CAP; usually of brass and almost always smaller dimensions. This is an original as opposed to a reproduction; note the smooth casting and detailed head dress and accurate embossed markings. Also note the original cast dimensions of; 4 3/8" high x 3 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep. My example is nickel plated versus brass or shiny chrome. Provenance: The George Cross Collection of Native American items...
