Art Dealers Association of America Mirrors

Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America is a vetted community of more than 180 top-tier galleries across the United States. Working with these member galleries, ADAA appraisers offer assessment services for artworks spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. The ADAA also arranges public forums on important art-related topics and hosts The Art Show, presented each year at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, which stands out among art fairs for its acclaimed selection of curated booths — many of which are one-artist exhibitions.to

Pair of American Neo-Classical Pier Mirrors
By Historic New England
Located in New York, NY
Boston, Massachusetts, about 1820
Eastern white pine, gessoed and gilded, with ebonized liners and mirror
Each, 65 1/8 in. high; 37 1/2 in. wide
Inscribed (on back of frame and backboard of each): Top
This pair of mirrors is identical to a pair belonging to Historic New England (formerly The Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities), of Boston, Massachusetts, that are currently on display in the Samuel McIntire ballroom at The Vale, a property of Historic New England in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The Historic New England mirrors came to them as a gift in 1965 from Mr. and Mrs. Randall Thompson, who had acquired them with the purchase of their Cambridge, Massachusetts, residence, The Larches, from Mrs. Henry Tudor. The house that came to be known as The Larches was begun by Jonathan Hastings about 1808, and was unfinished when William Gray, a major Salem ship owner who held the mortgage, took possession of it later that year. Gray finished the house, originally built on the northwest corner of Brattle Street and Fresh Pond...
