Early Davenport Ironstone Mug Hand Painted Chinoiserie Pattern 659, circa 1815

This is a rare and early stone China (Ironstone) mug which dates to the George 111 period, circa 1815 made by the Davenport factory of Longport, Staffordshire Potteries, England.
The mug is straight sided similar to a coffee can and has a loop handle with an upper thumb rest.
The pattern is number "659", which is one of Davenport's very few chinoiserie patterns.
The bold pattern features striking polychrome enamels of rocks and different flowers all in the Chinoiserie style, hand painted over-glaze in different colours over an under-glaze blue printed outline. The pattern is embellished with good hand gilding. There is also a deep border pattern to the inside rim which replicates the outer mug pattern with sprigs of hand painted flowers.

A mid-19th century lady’s travelling dressing case.
The case is constructed in a finely marked coromandel, with inset brass handles and brass guard bands to the angles. The hinged lid rises to reveal in the upper section, a drop down document holder, with a mirror to the back, the parcel gilt pieces are engraved with a Viscountess’s coronet, probably Charles, 2nd Viscount Hardinge Cornwallis (1822-1894) and inset with turquoises and comprise a suite of four cut-glass jars, a liqueur flask with a fitted cup, the pull-out rear shelf houses seven jars for ink, potions and unguents. Christophe Fratin was born in Metz in France in 1801. He first studied sculpture under Pioche in Metz under whom he honed his technical skills. He then became a pupil of the painter Theodore Gericault in Paris where he pursued his career as a sculptor.
Fratin first exhibited at the Paris Salon as early as 1831, where he showed ‘Fermer – An English Thoroughbred’. The popularity of Fratin’s sculpture in England had a significant impact on his career. His modelling style reflected his imaginative mind and sense of humour, particularly in his humorous modelling of bears.
Fratin was asked to sculpt life-size monuments for French cities, including his home town of Metz. At the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London he was considered the greatest animalier sculptor of the day. Fratin’s bronzes...

A fine and impressive pair of antique American cast sterling silver tapersticks; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection.
These impressive antique American sterling silver tapersticks have an octofoil panelled form, replicating the details of a Classic English George I style.
The plain panelled waisted cylindrical capitals are encircled with protruding scalloped borders to the rims.
Each plain waisted column bears a panelled bulbous knop to the upper portion and further scalloped decoration to the lower.
The columns surmount octagonal shaped, incurved bases with a sunken well and plain collet style rim.
Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.
The underside of each base bears the maker's mark 'James Robinson' and 'sterling' standard mark.
Condition
These antique tapersticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The hallmarks struck to the underside of each base are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

This is a superb hand-blown example of an Irish made, mid-Georgian, cordial wine drinking glass with a thick double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1765 to 1770.
These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour, with slight age related wear as expected with over 200 years of use.
The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th Century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm.
