An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bulbous-shaped form onto a swept pedestal and circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is encompassed with a central band of chased and engraved scrolling foliate and floral decoration, incorporating swan and vase ornamentation, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive cartouche displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting between two arms embowed a sun in splendour. The cylindrical upper rim is encompassed with further scrolling leaf decoration, flanked with an applied dart decorated border to the nadir and a moulded border to the rim. The cast silver waisted pedestal features a spiralling bead design, incorporating scrolling motifs to the upper portion, replicating the details of an architectural column. The circular spreading foot is embellished with impressive cast figural mask designs alternating with layered leaf motifs, all ornamented with further bead decoration. The swept rim of the slightly weighted base is further ornamented with a leaf decorated festoon. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion. This exceptional goblet, crafted by the renowned silversmith Frederick Elkington of Elkington & Co, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique 1870s silver gilt goblet is a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition. The chased decoration is all very sharp. This is a superb hand-blown example of an Irish made, mid-Georgian, cordial wine drinking glass with a thick double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1765 to 1770. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour, with slight age related wear as expected with over 200 years of use. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th Century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm. This is a very good hand-blown, English, Georgian, wine drinking glass with a facet cut stem, dating from the 18th century, circa 1785. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm. The glass has a round funnel bowl which sits on a good facet hand cut stem which extend into the base of the bowl, the stem having a central knop. The stem leads to a conical foot having a snapped off pontil mark to the underside, which has been ground smooth. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique William III English Britannia standard silver flat topped quart tankard; an addition to our range of collectable 18th century silverware. This magnificent antique William III Britannia silver tankard has a plain tapering cylindrical form onto a spreading collet style foot. The surface of this 18th century quart tankard is embellished with an impressive engraved leaf and floral bordered coat of arms depicting party per pale to the first a chevron between three lion's heads erased and to the second a bend raguly. The upper and lower portions of the body are encircled with bands of tooled decoration, with an applied moulded border to the upper rim. This antique quart tankard retains the original double stepped flat topped, hallmarked cover surmounted with an impressive volute scrolling thumbpiece. The cover is further ornamented with a band of tooled decoration to the rim accented with an applied shaped thumbpiece to the anterior edge. The hinge is decorated with ribbed ornamentation and retains the original pin. This antique Britannia standard silver tankard is fitted with an S-scroll handle ornamented with a plain rounded terminal. The spreading collet foot is encircled with a band of applied moulded decoration to the rim. Imperial quart = 2 pints/1.14 litres. Britannia silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697. This was to indicate the slightly higher standard of silver from sterling silver standard of 925 (92.5% of fine silver). The armourial bearings are those of the Wyndham and Penruddocke family, to commemorate the marriage of Henry Wyndham and Arundel Penruddocke on 11th September 1735. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug and stand; part of our wine and drinks related silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug has an elongated pear-shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot. The stand has an octofoil shaped form with a central swept raised circular well. The cylindrical neck of the silver jug is embellished with exceptional cast and applied floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background; there is an exceptional shield shaped vacant cartouche to the underside of the pouring lip, surmounted with scrolling leaf mantling. The knopped neck is further ornamented with an interlacing border flanked with plain bands, to a swept portion encircled with pensile bud designs. The decoration to the body incorporates two large scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouches, each surmounted with a coronet design embellished with floral ornamentation. Each cartouche is further embellished with a chased figural mask design to the nadir, flanked with large floral motifs. Either side of each cartouche is embellished with an exceptional cast and applied three-dimensional winged mermaid and mermen, gesturing towards the aforementioned coronet. The decoration to the body is further embellished with large scrolling leaf and floral sprays incorporating a cast and applied protruding leopard's head to the anterior portion. This magnificent antique silver Armada jug retains the original hinged cover, ornamented with chased scrolling lead decoration and surmounted with an impressive cast and applied scrolling loop finial.
