Wrought Iron Italian Wall Console Table with Wooden Top
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as it provides detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. This elegant and refined Italian wrought iron wall console table features an exceptional curvilinear and slender design, aesthetically and symmetrically perfect. The upper top is made of high-quality wood painted black, with few decorative elements that are simple and rationally distributed. This model has the convenient feature of being fixed to the wall by means of two small perforated plates welded to the back edge of the console table (see photo), ensuring the piece of furniture is permanently solid and stable. The console table was created between 1930 and 1935 in an ironworking workshop in the Santo Spirito district of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Since ancient times, this part of the city has been the vibrant center of Florence's craftsmanship. Florence has a long history of metalworking, dating back to the Renaissance, when it was an important center for the production of wrought iron. Florentine craftsmen were renowned for their intricate designs and high-quality ironwork, often used for furniture, gates, and architectural elements. Italian wrought iron consoles have a rich history and are admired for their craftsmanship, elegance, and durability. The evolution of these pieces reflects broader trends in art, architecture, and interior design in Italy, particularly in Tuscany. The use of wrought iron dates back to antiquity, but during the late medieval period, Italian blacksmiths began to perfect their skills, creating functional and decorative artifacts, including furniture. The Renaissance (14th-17th centuries) was a significant period for art and craftsmanship in Italy. Wealthy patrons, inspired by classical antiquity, commissioned intricate wrought iron work for their homes and public buildings. Tuscany during the Renaissance was the world center for art, culture, science, and crafts. During the Baroque period (17th-18th centuries), wrought iron consoles became more extravagant, featuring bold and dramatic designs with heavy ornamentation. Neoclassicism (late 18th-early 19th century) brought a return to simplicity and classical inspiration; wrought iron furniture had decorative elements inspired by ancient Greece and Rome. From the 19th to the early 20th century, ironwork saw a mix of styles, including the revival of earlier periods and the introduction of new trends such as Art Nouveau, with organic, flowing lines and patterns inspired by nature. In the 20th century, wrought iron console tables continued to evolve, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design principles. Mid-century modern styles (1920-1950) favored a more minimalist design, with simple, clean lines and functional forms. Wrought iron furniture could incorporate glass and wood. Italian wrought iron console tables were traditionally made by skilled blacksmiths using techniques passed down through generations. This involved heating the iron in forges and shaping it with a hammer and anvil. Italian wrought iron console tables are often considered functional works of art, serving practical purposes while acting as focal points in a room. This particular type of table is versatile and suits a variety of settings, from classic to contemporary. Antique wrought iron console tables...

Staffordshire Potteries English Tray with Blue Transferware Decorations
By Clementson Brothers
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Lovely and refined English oval ceramic tray; elegant and rich blue decorations have been executed on the white background using the transferware method; the mark on the back tells us exactly that the object was produced by the Clementson Brothers LTD Company between 1901 and 1913 at the Phoenix factory in Shelton, the company made a wide range of objects with this decoration called "Delf" ( see mark no.909 p.150 of "Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Mark"). Transferware, which was very fashionable in the Victorian period, refers to glazed and decorated pottery with a specific treatment that they produced in Staffordshire, England; they used copper plates on which the design was engraved, the plate was then inked and the design transferred to a special fabric that was later placed on the pottery (plates, trays, tureens, etc.) which was glazed and fired; the first to use this printing process were John Sadler and Guy Green of Liverpool in 1756. If we look at the pottery made by this method we will notice that the designs are not perfect and often the ink is smudged: this is their characteristic. A hand-painted plate service could afford few English families, with this method even middle-class families could have a decorated plate service. The Clementson Firm was founded in 1839 by Joseph Clementson, who retired from the business in 1867, leaving the factory to his four sons and son...

Particular and original German ceramic vase colored with a beautiful shade of red and a dark and vivid black; it has a simple shape but at the same time innovative and modernist; the beautiful and bright colors are balanced and proportioned respecting a minimalist design; the glazing of the vase was obtained by first laying down one color, proceeding to fix it by firing it in the kiln, then the same procedure was carried out for the other color; on the bottom is the mark "W. Germany"; it was produced between 1968 and 1971 in a craft workshop in the city of Dresden (then in East Germany), an important center for the production of porcelain and ceramics. Copeland-Spode English Tray With Blue Transferware Decorations
By Copeland Spode
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and refined English octagonal ceramic tray; on the white background, soft and rich blue decorations have been executed using the transferware method; in the center we find the poetic and graceful representation of the Severn River and the town of Bridgnorth (the name of this decoration is "Severn"), while the edges of the tray are adorned with sumptuous and spectacular flower and leaf decorations. The Severn River is the longest river in the United Kingdom (350 km), rising in Wales and flowing into the Bristol Channel; Bridgnorth is an ancient Saxon settlement; observing the view of the river and town from his castle at Bridgnorth King Charles I Stuart (1600-1649) said "the most beautiful sight in all my kingdom". On the back of the tray there are 3 imprinted marks including one with final number 14, then we find in the center a blue mark, these indicate to us exactly that the tray was produced in Stoke-on-Trent by the Copeland-Spode company in 1914 (see mark no.1079 p.172 of "Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Mark). The Spode firm was founded in the heart of the Potteries - Stoke-on-Trent by Josiah Spode in 1770. Josiah Spode is most famous for developing the specific design technique that meant underglaze transfers could be printed on earthenware. Later, focusing on porcelain production, Josiah Spode pioneered the development of a new form of porcelain, originally called "Stoke China...
