This engraving has been hand embellished with aquatint color(s) and is from Ireland circa 1820-40.
It features a scene of the Quay or Port of Waterford from circa 1820. We are basing this upon the attire of the figures in the engraving and the tall ships.
It features Reginald’s Tower (still located at the Waterford Quay to this day). Georgian Quay buildings, a number of moored tall ships and row boats, barrels, horses and carts, women and British soldiers.
The engraving was professionally reframed and matted in Dallas in the 1980’s and the rear of the frame says that it was “Museum Mounted and Matted”. The frame has a lovely Grecian pattern around the front.

The 3 watercolors carried an Auction estimate of USD 3,000 to USD 4,000 and Sold for USD 4,000 (not including Buyers Premium).
Allowing for inflation alone this would be over $7,000 in today’s value.
We have this watercolor by Paresh Maity and (listed separately) the Babu Xavier watercolor, but not the Ranjit Kurmi watercolor.

Monumental Triptych Oil on Canvas Panels Of New Orleans French Quarter Houses

PRESENTING a simply beautiful, monumental and imposing original work of contemporary art, namely, a Triptych oil on canvas panels of New Orleans Colonial/French Quarter Houses.
Unsigned and undated, but most definitely inspired by the World Renowned New Orleans artist, James Michalopoulos.
These were not painted by Michalopoulos, but were clearly inspired by him and his famous depictions of ‘wavey’ New Orleans houses. Also, they were created and painted in New Orleans, contemporaneously to when Michalopoulos was starting to become recognized, in the New Orleans (and greater) artworld.
The 3 panels work perfectly together as a visual feast and ‘connected’ work of art.
The panel on the left features a wavy blue, grey and yellow, French Quarter style 2 Story Wooden house, complete with Corinthian Style Columns, decks, railings, storm shuttered windows, etc. It has a deep blue sky with shimmering light reflections. The garden to the front, has steps leading to the house and has shrubs and flowers, that are continued into the 2nd or middle/center panel.
The middle or center panel incorporates the other side of the garden plants etc for continuity and it features a single story pink, yellow and white wavy French Quarter style house, with fabulous decor and complete with decks, railings, storm shuttered windows, etc. It has a deep blue sky with shimmering light reflections and a white moon, emitting swirling patterns of light. The garden to the front, has steps leading to the house and has shrubs and flowers, that are continued into the 3rd or right panel.

It beautifully captures a blanket of snow over the wet flat and sparsely vegetated boglands, with the reeds and rushes protruding from the snow and the bog holes still visible in the blanket of snow.

Miguel Covarrubias also known as José Miguel Covarrubias Duclaud (22 November 1904 — 4 February 1957) was a Mexican painter, caricaturist, illustrator, ethnologist and art historian.
Miguel’s artwork and celebrity caricatures have been featured in The New Yorker and Vanity Fair magazines. The linear nature of his drawing style was highly influential to other caricaturists such as Al Hirschfeld. Miguel’s first book of caricatures The Prince of Wales and Other Famous Americans was a hit, though not all his subjects were thrilled that his sharp, pointed wit was aimed at them. He immediately fell in love with the Harlem jazz scene, which he frequented with Rosa and friends including Eugene O’Neill and Nickolas Muray. He counted many notables among his friends including Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes and W.C. Handy for whom he also illustrated books. Miguel’s caricatures of the jazz clubs were the first of their kind printed in Vanity Fair. James H. Flack (1941 – 2018) was a contemporary Irish watercolour painter. He was born in County Armagh, Northern Ireland in 1941 and settled in Athy, County Kildare in the early 1970s. He is a member of the Water Colour Society of Ireland, the Ulster Watercolour Society, the Dublin Art Club and the Dublin Sketching Club. He holds the degrees of BA, BD, M.Th., and H.Dip.Ed. from Trinity College Dublin and Edinburgh University.
Flack’s interest in painting developed at an early age when his mother, headmistress of the local primary school, encouraged her pupils to use art work...

Ireland is world famous for its equine industry. Irish horses of all breeds are highly prized and sought out internationally. Ireland is very proud of this. This painting depicts a Horse Fair in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon in the West of Ireland. There are many horse fairs throughout Ireland, especially in the Summertime. Local Breeders will bring their ponies into the local town square or Market square and trade, buy, sell and barter ponies. What I love about this painting is it's 'whimsical' depiction of a fair in that you have ponies and a group of farmers in heated debate (haggling). The cause of this heated debate in on the bottom left..a donkey! Someone is trying to trade a donkey for a pony, hence the debate! it then, has the classic Irish Pub...
