In the earliest days of electric lighting, designers worked closely together with artists & artisans and together they created some of the most beautiful light fixtures made in the history of mankind. For creating these 'works of lighting art' they used some of the most expensive materials and some of the most expensive methods. One of the reasons why such very expensive light fixtures could be made, was, because the potential buyers were mostly people who lived in the largest and most expensive of homes. This gilt bronze and cut glass pendant would have been made for an entry hall with a high ceiling and it would be mounted in the centre of a ceiling rose. The unique combination of gilt bronze ornaments and a stunning cut glass shade, makes this antique pendant an absolute joy to own and look at. This handsome and completely original antique pendant, has rams heads and guirlandes all around the shade, a crown-like gallery on top and leafs and a bronze pineapple underneath.
