1984 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Documented Sequin Satin Maxi Tuxedo Jacket

About the Item

Breathtaking and totally iconic Yves Saint Laurent haute couture maxi length tuxedo jacket dating back to his beloved 1984 fall-winter collection. It is insanely chic with its fluid femme fatale sculpted construction yet masculine approach. The design is definitely a nod to his 1966 "Le Smoking" tuxedo suit for women which was the first of its kind to earn attention in the fashion world and in popular culture. The luxurious fabric on this garment is a masterpiece in itself; a sparkling sequin embroidered lace overlay on a mid-weight duchess silk satin. The carefully placed floral motif sequin lace gives the garment so much depth and texture. The full-length jacket has padded structured shoulders with a figuring fitted nipped waist. This is that versatile designer piece every fashionista looks for. Perfect for the dressiest red carpet occasion or pair it with slacks for a totally different vibe. Yves Saint Laurent was seen by many as having empowered women by giving them the option to wear clothes that were normally worn by men with influence and power. Saint Laurent would go on to include a "tuxedo" look in each of his collections until 2002. A wearable piece of true haute couture fashion history. Measurements Bust: 36-37 inches Waist: 29 inches Hips: up to 38 inches Total Length: 60 inches This Yves Saint Laurent haute couture numbered 58972 maxi tuxedo jacket is in excellent condition with no rips, stains or holes. We added many pictures so one can appreciate this masterful achievement. An incredibly rare custom garment and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.

  • Vintage 1989 Yves Saint Laurent Leopard Print Cotton Twill Trench Jacket w/Tags
    By Yves Saint Laurent

Chic Yves Saint Laurent leopard print cotton-twill trench jacket from the infamous Rive Gauche collection during spring-summer of 1989. Pieces from this collection are very rare and are true examples of fashion history. I adore the cuffed-sleeves and front duel pockets. The jacket features hidden buttons and a sexy back-slit. It is wearable and comfortable, yet has its own iconic elements. The best part of all is, the trench is in mint never worn condition! "In the mid-1970s the relevance of haute couture was seriously debated. The political and social upheaval of the 1960s, the emergence of a plethora of creative ready-to-wear designers, and the increasing preference for a sportswear approach to dressing as represented by American fashion were among the shifts in lifestyles and taste that appeared to sound the death knell of the calcified and elitist world of the maisons de couture. It was at this time that Yves Saint Laurent, haute couture’s preeminent practitioner, threw caution to the prevailing winds with a collection of unrivaled fantasy and luxury." • Jean Paul Gaultier Cyberbaba Cyberdot Optical Illusion 1995 Coat Jacket Dress
    By Jean Paul Gaultier
    Located in PARIS, FR
Iconic Cyberbaba dress by Jean Paul Gaultier! From the Autumn/Winter 1995 Collection! For sale is an iconic and rare Jean Paul Gaultier Cyberdot Quilted Dress from his Autumn-Winter 1995 collection that has been inspired by the 1979 film 'Mad Max' and Victor Vasarely. Made of quilted wool/nylon fabric, the computer-generated spot pattern reflect the contours of the female body, with spot-print allover. It can be worn as a dress or a coat/sweater. Museum piece! The same dress is displayed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. You can find it in its online collection. Description from the MET`s archivum: Jean Paul Gaultier's collection "Femmes Amazone" was accessorized, according to Women's Wear Daily, with "whips and sundry other Mad Max accessories." His inspiration, ostensibly, was the mythic Amazon and the contemporary equestrian. This dress is a version of the body-conscious sheathes he showed in the runway presentation under sweeping coats. With an ombréed and graduated dot pattern, Gaultier creates the illusion of a shadowed trompe l'oeil body wearing a bikini. The essential modesty of the padded and quilted sweater dress is subverted by this overprinted body, which emerges like an X ray, and by Gaultier's exploitation of the stretch of the synthetic knit to fit the dress like a second skin. Gaultier makes one of his whimsical references to the pop culture of his childhood in rendering the "itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini" of Brian Hyland's 1960 hit single. The pattern are worn by a lot of celebrites, such as Kim Kardashian, Iggy Azalea, Cardi B...
