Worn as jewelry or as a protective charm, the stone was believed to imbue a person with a clear mind and pure spirit, and to guard against evil spirits and illness. To this day, if a jade bangle is broken during use, it's thought that the jade protected the wearer by absorbing incoming negative energy or harm. For many, jade bangles are also cherished family heirlooms, worn from a young age to represent the enduring bonds to their ancestors and loved ones.
This jade bangles in this set of three date to the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) and display a lovely range of colors and forms. In ancient China, it is a well-known fact that several types of small dogs were bred and were favored pet gifts between emperors and kings including Lion Dogs, Pekingese and Lo-sze breeds. The vase is delicately potted featuring a pear-shaped body that rests on a slightly flared foot and extends upward into a trumpet-shaped neck. Its exterior showcases a dynamic, three-clawed dragon in stride amidst flames.
This piece reflects a similar style to Yuan dynasty Yuhuchunping dragon vases, while reinterpreting certain details, such as the sharp and simplified shape of the dragon's head, the distinctive straight design of its claws, and the intricate depiction of the dragon’s scales.
The sticker on the base indicates that the absolute age was determined through radiological mechanical appraisal using the quantum absolute dating method, with the results pointing to the early 18th century.

This vase is an exceptionally rare piece and likely the only known example of a Cong-shaped vase from the Jin Dynasty. While some experts may attribute this work to the Song Dynasty or later periods based on its form, it is, in fact, a much earlier creation from the 3rd to 4th century CE during the Jin Dynasty. It was imported from Hong Kong in the late 1990s and was acquired by our gallery as part of a collection that included other Jin Dynasty Yue celadon pieces.
The vase features a cylindrical form with a square (方形) design and geometric incised patterns.
