TWELVES ETCHINGS OF PALACES, PAVILIONS AND GARDENS BY GIUSEPPE CASTIGLIONE IN THE IMPERIAL GROUNDS OF THE SUMMER PALACE, BEIJING, YUANMINGYUAN 1977 The original etchings were created for the Qianlong Emperor between 1783 and 1786 by the Jesuit missionary to the Chinese court, Giuseppe Castiglione (also known as Lang Shining). They illustrate the edifices, gardens and palace grounds constructed from 1737-1766. Acquired from Christie's South Kensington UK in late 1990s
