Japanese Antique Duck Decoy 1920s-1940s / Figurine Object Wabisabi

About the Item

This is an old duck decoy made in Japan. It is a wood carved artifact made during the Showa period (1920s-1940s). The material is cedar wood, and the grain of the wood is beautiful. The smooth curves and the texture of the surface created by years of use give it a warmth that only handcrafted work can provide. A decoy is a wooden bird model made as a hunting decoy. Although once used as a practical product, they have now outlived their usefulness and are given a new lease of life as art pieces. This duck decoy is a harmony of natural materials and rustic beauty of form, giving it a simple yet strong presence. Just by placing it in a space, it evokes the spirit of the Japanese wabi-sabi, and creates a quiet and beautiful moment. Weight: 1.3 kg _____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
