About the Item

A handsome pair of matching wicker arm and rocking chair in a design hand woven and typical of the Arts and Crafts period, American, C. 1900-1920 and attributed to the Heywood Wakefield Company,Gardner,Massachusetts. The matching pair of chairs are in excellent condition and done in a natural finish with beautiful colored trimmings of back, green and red. The backs and the sides of each piece are woven and decorated with diamond pattern decorations done in these colored finishes as are the border trims which embellish the chairs perimeter, rockers and also the front undersides of each arm where there are beautiful arm supports which adds to the chairs unique design and additionally is a sign of a more expensively constructed piece of wicker furniture. This arm support embellishment is designed in a colored criss cross pattern which is not only eye catching but an in important structural element.
