Born in Hungary in 1910, he became a key figure in the post-war design movement, blending modernism with craftsmanship. Matégot is best known for his use of metal, often combining it with materials like rattan and leather to create functional yet aesthetically striking pieces. His “Rigitulle” technique, a method of bending metal mesh, became a signature of his style. His work, which includes chairs, tables, and lighting, is celebrated for its elegance, practicality, and artistic flair, establishing him as a leading designer in the mid-century modern era.
