About the Item

A beautiful, quite substantial and heavy, Italian pottery bowl featuring a sumptuous oxblood lava glaze that absolutely radiates in the light. We believe this work is likely an Aldo Londi piece, perhaps for Bitossi. It is exquisite in every way. Signed (with maker's mark) and noted "Italy" on the underside/base. Aldo Londi was born in Florence, Italy in 1911. He became one of the leading Mid-century pottery designers of his time and later served as the art director of the renowned Bitossi Ceramics in Italy. An apparent rare and hard to find work. We certainly have not come across another work quite like it. Would be a great addition to any Mid-Century Modern or Italian ceramics collection or make for an eye caching stand alone accent piece in about any setting. Dimensions: 3.5" high, 10.5" diameter
