About the Item

Shelter IV Decorative Object by Dora Stanczel One of a Kind. Dimensions: D 9 x W 14 x H 11 cm. Materials: Porcelain, colored glaze and gold. Dimensions are variable. A wooden stand can be included. Please contact us. I create bespoke and luxurious porcelain pieces with a careful aesthetic. Beyond the technical mastery of casting, what interests me is the unexpected imperfection that occurs during the creative process. I like to make it a focal point of my pieces. For me, the intelligence of the hand lies in the collaboration with the material and not in its control. My pieces are the fruit of long experiments where technical processes are diverted. I obtain the harmony of forms by constantly seeking the limit of the material of the porcelain. I tear, fold, deform, glue, drip porcelain in a specific way that reveals the fragility and strength of the material. Indeed, a piece gains its strength through its final firing where the previously fragile material will finally be revealed. The beauty is in this transformation by the fire! My unique and stunning artworks are influenced by waves, curves and colors that I see when I go out on the ocean on my boat. This natural force and ecosystem essential to life is my source of inspiration. I consciously develop a vocabulary of forms based on the errors and the unexpected of this process. To obtain a unique piece, I divert the technical process of porcelain.
