About the Item
Rare 19th Century Hand Painted Over Papier Mache Gentleman’s Bust
A rare and very unusual example dated from mid to late 19th Century, hand crafted papier Mache. In the form of a French officer with loops-pigtail, black ribbon with cravat formal dress, this bust would have been created for an important Naval officer. It shows a wonderful surface wear with its think papier Mache material, which makes it very decorative. All hand painted detail and hollow central section as shown, a wonderful artifact and rare due to its look and condition.
Size: H 16” x W 11” x D 8”
Completely solid in structure and form, being made from thick papier Mache has meant the aging process has led to loss of paint and surface detail.
Please expect imperfections as suggested and shown in the photos provided. We have tried to show all its flaws in the photos. For multiple years we have sold antique items globally, please expect our items to show relevant age and natural wear, Items are only restored due to breaks and major loss, and we always stipulate this in our condition report.

"At that time I asked the Lord Jesus: 'For whom do I still have to pray?'. Jesus answered me that the following night he would make me known for whom I had to pray. I saw the Custodian Angel, who ordered me to follow him. At a moment I found myself in a foggy place, invaded by fire and, in it, a huge crowd of suffering souls.
