This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930.
The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support.
The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used .
This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above.
The lamp is in full working order.
This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked.

The ODYV brand is a creation of the Berlot-Mussier manufacture in Vierzon near Bourges (Cher, France). Created in 1927 from the meeting of Mr. Berlot, a coal wholesaler, and Mr. Mussier, a coal salesman, the company first produced porcelain before specializing in the production of earthenware. Art Deco style, it is a great success for the manufacture. If production slows down sharply during the Second World War, exports to big families in North Africa allow the company to recover well after 1945. Becoming its majority outlet, Berlot-Mussier will experience great difficulties after the independence of the Morocco and Tunisia in 1956, but especially Algeria in 1962. In the 1970s, the company was drawn into bankruptcy, following a crisis affecting the entire sector in Vierzon.
The ODYV brand is a set of Art Deco objects produced between 1929 and 1939. It includes clocks with pendants, vases, shaped pieces as well as lamp bases. Art Deco appeared in Paris in 1925, during the international decorative arts fair. This style, based on the simplification and geometrization of shapes, will be very successful during the 1930s and ensure great success for ODYV. The specificity of this collection is its adaptability to customers. Indeed, the colors but also the shapes are chosen by the customer who can then order a unique piece according to his tastes. Customers may hesitate between a choice of pastel colors such as shades of pale green, beige, white or pink, all accented with gold or silver. All these objects were distributed by independent distributors who worked with Berlot-Mussier.

VALERIE “VALLY” WIESELTHIER (Austrian-American, 1895 – 1945) was an outstanding ceramic artist. She was born to a Jewish family in Vienna, Austria. Her father, Wilhelm Wieselthier was a lawyer. Valluy attended theWiener Frauenacademie in Vienna from 1912 to 1914 and studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Rosalinda Rothhansl, Kolo Moser, Jodef Hoffmann and Michael Powolny from 1914 to 1920. In addition, she worked as an auxiliary nurse during the First World War.
From 1917 to 1922, she worked for the Wiener Werkstatte. From 1922 to 1927, she ran her own ceramic workshop in cooperation with the Augarten porcelain factory, which was newly founded in 1923, but also with other companies such as Friedrich Goldschider, Gmundner Keramik and Lobmeyr.
Her expressive and humorous porcelain figures attracted attention at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern in Paris in 1925 and are considered typical examples of the Art Deco style style. From 1928, the artist increasingly moved her center of life to the United States. She went to the International Exhibition of Ceramic Art in New York City in October 1928.
