Pair of Legras Poppy Cups in Acid-Etched Crystal and Bronze

About the Item

Pair of acid-etched crystal and bronze cups Montjoye de Saint Denis factory for François-Théodore Legras(1839-1916). Late 19th, 1900 Beautiful bronze frame decorated with shells and very beautiful decoration of poppies cleared with polished and frosted acid then gilded with fine gold. This gold poppies decor is original and without wear. About François-Théodore Legras: Born in a small village in the Vosges in 1839, he began as a clerk at the age of 20 and became one of the greatest French Master glassmakers with Emile Gallé and Antonin Daum. He chairs the Cristallerie de Saint-Denis and Legras et Cie. Present and multi-awarded in all major international exhibitions. In 1900, he was responsible for the "Glass and Crystal" section at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. Dimensions : neck diameter : 7 7/8 in - height : 7 7/8 in Maximum diameter of glassware : 9 in Perfect state.
