Empire Style Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Napoleon Vase
Located in London, GB
This Sevres style porcelain vase is beautifully painted with an image of Napoleon I on horseback. In this painting, Napoleon visits his men, some of whom are wounded, in what appears to be a military camp. He is seen, leading a group of mounted soldiers, on a white horse, respectfully doffing his bicorne hat to his troops. The painting is signed ‘F. Amblet’. This oval painting is given an elaborate gilded decorative border, reminiscent of a giltwood frame. These beautiful gold foliate patterns continue onto the base of the vase, as well as the top, where we see a pair of griffins.
The vase is fitted with two handles, cast as double French imperial eagle heads, which spring from classical female masks, each wearing with winged helmets. ‘M.re IMPle de Sevres’ is painted its base.

Early 19th Century Paris Porcelain Urn
Located in Vancouver, British Columbia
A museum quality early 19th century Paris porcelain urn. The twin handled vase sits on a rectangular porcelain base (modelled as part of the vase), which is decorated on all four sides with finely painted scenes titled 'Gene de Corrinte', 'Gene de Mytilene', 'Gene de Sparte', and 'Gene de Chiu' in reference to various Greek city states. The ovoid body of the vase is richly decorated with Greek key and stylized acanthus designs over and below a large gilt framed oval cameo of Athena on one side and a similar cameo on the other side bearing an undecipherable name. The overall background colour scheme of the vase is dark red/burgundy and dark emerald green, two colours which were more commonly used by the Dagoty factory in Paris than other porcelain manufacturing firms at the time. The vase is unsigned.
Note: Pierre Louis Dagoty's porcelain was characterized by the use of vivid colours and the thick application of burnished gold leaf. He borrowed from the repertoire of Neoclassical ornament but his designs also included Egyptian and Chinoiseries motifs.
Dagoty's elegant ceramics won him the patronage of Empress Joséphine. At the height of production, in 1807, he employed over a hundred workers, and exported his wares to Russia. After the fall of the First French Empire in 1814, manufacture continued under the Duchesse d'Angoulême, the only surviving child of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.
Between 1816 and 1820, Dagoty worked in partnership with François Maurice Honoré. In 1817. Dagoty and Honoré received a commission from President James Monroe...

Pair of Porcelaine de Paris Vases Signed and Gifted to "la Princess de Lamballe"
Located in New Orleans, LA
This pair of vases is made of exceptionally fine Porcelaine de Paris from the 18th century. The bronze mounts are covered in gold, and were 19th century additions. The porcelain itself is a phenomenal blue color with gold designs on it that looks magnificent. The vases each have a set of four portraits on them as well: two horizontal scenes on the front and back, with two vertical portraits above them on the front and back as well. The paintings on the front of each have people in them, whereas the ones on the back depict country scenes and buildings.
The inscription under the lid of the vase reads "Offert par Le Duc de Richelieu a la Princess de Lomballe." The Duke of Richelieu who gave these vases was most likely Louis François Armand de...

Pair of 19th Century Aesthetic Movement Majolica Urns, German, Attrib. Hanke
By Reinhold Hanke
Located in Madrid, ES
A matched pair of late 19th century Bohemian / German majolica porcelain urns. With a contrasting mix of Christian, mythological, grotesque and neoclassical elements, they exemplify the highly decorative, "art for art's sake" ideology of the Aesthetic Movement (1860-1900). Colorful and engaging, the style was a direct and confrontational answer to the rise of mass-produced and industrial culture.
With impressed marks "R.H. 35" on their bases, the urns were most probably manufactured by Reinhold...
