Josep Serra Catalan Ceramist Organic Modern Design Pottery Vase Spain 1960s

About the Item

Organic Modern ceramic vase from the 1960s created by Josep Serra for his namesake ceramic workshop. Tubular shape tampering into a short neck. Organic matte blue glaze design carved into the off-white body and cutouts in a maroon glossy glaze, beautiful combination of shapes and colors. The inside in bright blue glaze. Measurements: 9 inches high x 4 1/4 inches diameter The Serra workshop was established in an old farmhouse in Baix de Llobregat outside Barcelona in early 20th. century. Founded by the patriarch of the Serra Family, Antoni, the studio has continued making beautiful hand thrown ceramic through out by generations of Serra family. Josep Serra (1906-1989) belonged to the 2nd. generation and was also an accomplished ceramist creating lovely vessels and figures.
