Meissen gorgeous group of figurines: Children clad in most elegant Rococo garments gathering around a birdcage. - The details are stunningly sculptured = finest modeling. Manufactory: Meissen Dating: made circa 1870 Hallmarked: Meissen Mark with Pommels on Hilts (19th century) First quality. Model number 2897 / former's number 127 Material: Multicolored porcelain, partially golden painted, glossy finish Technique: Handmade porcelain Style: Rococo. Design: Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775). The sculptor was since year 1731 modeler of Meissen manufactory - he is one of the best modellers Meissen manufactory ever had. Kaendler designed The children gathered around birdcage (model 2897), circa 1762.   First quality Specification: Two boys and a girl are gathering around a birdcage which has been put on table - a canary bird is caged up there. The children are clad in most elegant Rococo garments: A boy plays the flute, a second one is presenting a small flower bundle to the girl (a basket filled with flowers has been put on earth). The girl seizing a sun umbrella as well as a small dog turns her back towards the birdcage. Three-sided base decorated with Rocaille ornaments existing.  Measures: Height 15.0 cm (= 5.90 inches) Width 17.0 cm (= 6.69 inches) Depth 13.0 cm (= 5.11 inches)  Bibliography: Sabine & Thomas Bergmann, Meissen figures, model numbers 1 - 3000, Erlangen / Germany 2017, page 42, catalogue number 1068.
