About the Item

This pair are painted with lovers in a romantic and rustic landscape. There are two Scenes Gallantes: dancing in one, resting by a fountain in the other, a small dog perhaps emblematic of faithfulness begs in the background. Each plate is gilt, shaped and within a broad cobalt blue border.

One has a small repair to the rim, both are dated at '49 with the mark scratched through. I cannot see why the mark is scratched through.
