About the Item

A delightful art nouveau Doulton Lambeth art pottery pepperette decorated with tubelined stylized floral designs by renowned artist Lily Partington and dating from around 1902. The stoneware pepperette is of simple rounded barrel shape standing on a natural salt glazed foot with recessed base with a small central filling hole. The top is of round domed shape and applied with an arrangement of dispensing holes. The body of the pepper is decorated with tall tube lined stylized floral stems with seed shaped tops repeated around the body and set between simple flower heads. The pattern typifies the period is hand decorated in tones of blue, green and yellow with white raised tube lining and set against a streaked green ground the pouring top decorated in brown. The pepper has an impressed maker’s mark along with initials LP for Lily Partington. Offered in good condition with usual signs of wear associated to age and use. Would have had a cork stopper however, as is common with these pieces, is missing. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market
