Japanese Meiji Era Cloisonne Enamel Plate Charger
About the Item
An antique Japanese, Meiji era, enamel over brass charger or plate. The plate is adorned with polychrome medallions depicting birds in chrysanthemum flowers, and a river mountain landscape view surrounded by Phoenix bird, floral, foliage, and scrollwork ornaments made in the Cloisonne technique. The backside of the ware is decorated with polychrome floral, foliage, and swirl ornaments made in the same technique. Unmarked. Circa: Mid to the late 19th century.
