Stig Lindberg, Salix, Trio Set, Gustavsberg

About the Item

Product Description: This popular series called Salix, designed by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg, draws attention due to the delicate lines drawn on the pure white and transparent bone china. Essentially this item is co-authored, the form-design comes from Stig Lindberg whereas the drwaing on the cup and saucer is attributed to Bibi Berger. The drawings resemble beautiful willow leaves. Since 2008 the item has been revived with a slightly different form, but the work for sale here is the "original" vintage item and not the remake. After her job at Gustavsberg Bibi - together with her husband Carl-Arne Breger - founded Breger Design producing the famous "VattenKanna". The rounded shape of the cup fits comfortably in your hand, making it a wonderful work both artistically and practically. Product Condition: The cups and saucers are in very nice condition given their age, an elaborate overview of minor esthetic imperfections can be found below. Paint loss and jumps can be seen on the whole. There are some irregularities on the edge of one cup which seem to have been made at time of manufacturing. There are markings produced by touching metal on the bottom of the handles of the two cups. Both saucers have some threads. The plate has a little thread, though not as much as the saucer. The saucer and plate have traces of the kiln stanchions used during firing, but they are not regular for this series. There is also a pool, etc., and that part has a slightly rough finish.
