About the Item

A stunning Mid-century ceiling pendant light chandelier dating back to the 1960s. Model no. 2259, handcrafted by Fontana Arte in Italy and designed by the renowned Max Ingrand. This remarkable light sculpture features brass hardware adorned with two solid, thick drop-shaped polished glass shades, partially frosted. In very good condition, the glass shades exhibit excellent clarity and are free from any damage. The brass hardware showcases an unique patina, which has only grown more beautiful with time. The simplicity and elegance of this piece undoubtedly contribute to its status as one of Ingrand's most coveted designs. Total height: 36“, height without the rod: 16.5" Peter Fiell (2005) "1000 Lights 1878 to 1959" p. 481. We offer to rewire the light to US standards upon request as a free service. Max Ingrand, the renowned French designer, decorator, and glass artist, was born in 1908 in Bressuire. He studied interior architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, focusing on decorative arts under Jacques Gruber and Charles Lemaresquier. Ingrand's career was marked by his production of numerous stained glass windows for various public spaces, religious institutions, hotels, and more. From 1954 to 1964, he served as the artistic director of Fontana Arte, an Italian lighting company, where he designed several successful lamp models, including the enduringly popular Fontana Table Lamp of 1954.
