About the Item

1920s Poul Henningsen “PH 3/2 Academy” three branched chandelier with chromed metal frame, opal glass shades. Diam. 68 cm. Stamped serial no. 3370. Certificate included. The PH 3/2 Academy crown, designed by Poul Henningsen in 1925-1926 and RE-launched in 2000, is a testament to the timeless elegance and innovative design principles of Henningsen's work. Manufactured by Louis Poulsen, this exquisite lighting fixture combines hand-blown white opal glass with high-gloss chrome plating, creating a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic. The crown features Henningsen's signature multi-shade system, which ensures glare-free, evenly distributed light. The hand-blown opal glass shades provide a soft, diffuse illumination that enhances any interior space, while the high-gloss chrome-plated frame adds a modern touch and reflects the surrounding decor, making the fixture a versatile addition to various settings. Originally conceived in the mid-1920s, the PH 3/2 Academy crown was reintroduced in 2000, showcasing the enduring appeal and relevance of Henningsen's design philosophy. This chandelier not only illuminates beautifully but also serves as a striking focal point, blending classic and contemporary elements to create a timeless piece of functional art. Overall good condition with minimal patina. We do not guarantee for the functionality.

Pendel Model PH 3/2 Akademi By Poul Henningsen For Louis Poulsen
By Louis Poulsen, Poul Henningsen
Located in Lejre, DK
Poul Henningsen's collaboration with Louis Poulsen began as early as 1925-1926, when PH, in partnership with Louis Poulsen, designed the first lamps for an exhibition in Paris. This collaboration lasted until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH aimed to create glare-free light, directing the light where it was needed and producing soft shadows using the incandescent bulb as the light source. The PH 3/2 Academy Pendant is part of the 3-shade family, which now comprises 30 lamps, including 3 for outdoor use. PH didn't just design a lamp but an entire system, resulting in approximately a thousand different variations produced over the years. The extensive selection included table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps. Additionally, there were various chandeliers that became highly popular as high-hanging lighting fixtures...
