FLOS Gatto Piccolo Table Lamp by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
About the Item
With a shape that invokes the magical, festive spirit of a hot air balloon, and this creation by the Castiglioni brothers creates an air of whimsy. Named for a “little cat,” it sits softly on any table, offering a glowing diffused light. The lamp is done in the famous “cocoon” style that the duo was known for: a white powder coats the internal steel structure, which is then sprayed with the soft, webby resin. The diffuser is then protected by a transparent, sprayed-on finish.
Inspiration behind the design:
Soft, sweet, and at home atop any table, this “little cat” from Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was inspired by the work created by artist George Nelson for the Howard Miller Company in the late 1940s.
