Joe Colombo ACRILICA 281 TABLE LAMP OLUCE 1962

About the Item

Joe Colombo’s 281 vintage model table lamp, aka the “Acrilica” lamp, is a magical design that utilizes the conductive properties of methacrylate to great effect. The light travels from the base through the thick slab of acrylic to illuminate the surface, and it also glows in the most pleasing way. This is a early version of the lamp. It has a white enamel finish, The disk shaped piece is the transformer, and it is enough apart from the lamp, allowing for the clean, sleek line of the lamp to stand alone. In 1964, the “Acrilica” won the gold medal at the XIII Triennale in Milan and it is shown at the MoMa Museum in New York.
