Belleek Coffee Cup Trio, Shamrock Pattern, 1891-1926
Located in London, GB
This is a very charming coffee cup trio made by Belleek in the Shamrock design, consisting of a coffee cup, a saucer and a little cake plate. It has the 2nd Black Mark, which was used between 1891 and 1926. Given the quality of the porcelain we think the date of production is probably closer to 1891 than 1926. If you ever thought Belleek fine china looks, sounds and feels unique, you are right. There is a back story to this extraordinarily fine Irish eggshell porcelain, which has an unusually high amount of "frit" and therefore is thinner and finer than any other china. Pottery in Belleek (in the now Northern-Irish area of Fermanagh) had started in 1849 with John Caldwell Bloomfield, who was a wealthy land owner. During the Irish famine...

Martha J Cornwell American Arts & Crafts Glazed Terracotta Elephant Sculpture
Located in Philadelphia, PA
A fine early 20th century sculpture of an elephant. Attributed to Martha Jackson Cornwell. Depicting a stoutly modeled elephant on an integral plinth with a blanket draped across its back and an Indian headdress or harness across its forehead. Decorated in white, blue, and green glazes on a terracotta body and with inset beads or pearls to the elephant's head and forehead. Cornwell was a student of Kenyon Cox, Arthur Dow, and Augustus Saint Gaudens at the Art League in New York City at the end of the 19th Century. She was subsequently an assistant to St. Gaudens for a decade and a half on his Shaw Memorial in Boston. All in all, simply a wonderful, unique sculpture from one of America's important female sculptors of the early 20th Century! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: With some losses to the blanket edges...

Rare Dutch Church Interior Rozenburg Porcelain Tile Painting After J. Bosboom
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautiful large tile painting of a Gothic church interior by W.B. van Horssen (1863-1931). We very recently purchased a small collection of very rare antique plaques, tiles and vases by some of the best known maker's in the history of Dutch ceramics. This unique, hand-crafted and hand-painted work of art is the first one of that collection and this stunning and rare, single tiles plaque is in its original wooden frame. Because of their contrasting colors, the frame and tile painting go together really well. And these are in fact two works of art, because both the stunningly hand-painted tile and the wooden frame are as good as they come. With the borders of the frame coming as far outward as they do and the Gothic church interior that is drawing your attention deep into the back of the church, they really complement each other. However beautiful the frame is, this antique ofcourse is about the painting and this particular painting is by one of Rozenburg's finest (Wijnand Bastiaan van Horssen) who has perfectly managed to enhance the depth that is already in this composition, thus creating a visual effect that is an absolute joy to look at. By the way, the price that you see on the 'sticker' that the former owner put on the back after he had purchased this piece was put there in the 'old days' when we still had the Dutch guilder. The original painting of the Nieuwe Kerk in the Hague Holland (built in circa 1650) was by J. Bosboom. Besides one small old crack and a few minor imperfections to the frame, this unique and wonderful work of art is in very good condition still and may it grace the home or chapel of a Gothic style enthousiast soon. Mind you, because of their relative fragility very few of these amazing and high value works of art are still around. Rozenburg of the Hague, where this unique tile painting was created, was always one of the greats in Dutch ceramics and many of their works grace museums all over Europe. Rozenburg’s shareholders included the likes of the marine painter H.W. Mesdag (1831-1915) and the poet and literary critic Carel Vosmaer (1826-1888), and its tile painters numbered rising artists like Willem de Zwart...

Stunning & Mint Condition Brass and Cut Glass Arts and Crafts Chandelier, 1910s
Located in Lisse, NL
Perfectly handmade, European Arts and Crafts four-light chandelier. If you are looking for a stylish and beautiful chandelier to grace your living space then this fine specimen from the earliest years of the 1900s could be yours to own and enjoy soon. All handcrafted using quality materials only this Arts and Crafts era chandelier breathes the kind of class that early 20th century craftsman were known for. Because of the stylish floral patterns this antique work of lighting art is like an ode to mother nature herself. We 'Dutchies' have a special connection with flowers in general and with daisy flowers in particular and if this antique light fixture is not Dutch then we understand very well why it ended up here. The three brass arms and also the 'base' in which the large, cut-glass shade hangs all come with stunning and typical Arts and Crafts, embossed style elements / decorations. All the detailed and precise engravings in all the glass shades were hand-done and for all the glass shades to be in mint condition after more than 100 years, to us, is like a minor miracle. The large, handcrafted, hand-engraved and partially colored glass shade too has stylized flower motifs in it and the combination of materials makes this antique chandelier an absolute joy to look at. With as much as four sockets this relatively small chandelier can easily light up a living room or dining area of a regular-size home or apartment. Mind you, this antique light fixture will be wired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the country where she will be used and enjoyed. Our reasonable price for this rare, great looking and excellent condition antique includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Measures : Maximum height x diameter: 23.8 x 25.6 inches. Diameter of the large cut glass & colored shade only: 9.9 inches. Diameter of the original and timeless brass canopy: 5.7 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by.
