This is an antique rotary wrap reel machine. An English, brass and cast iron factory cotton skein winder by John Nesbitt of Manchester, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880. Presented in working order, this is a delightful example from Manchester's famous cotton industry Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good showcase order Superb material use, with bronze, brass, cast iron and mahogany Wonderful golden tones, dark graphite hues and deep caramels to the plinth Activated by a tactile wooden handle, the mechanism is geared to count a skein of cotton Each skein is wound around the mechanism to 120 yards (110 meters), annotated on the dial Upon each revolution of the dial, the hammer and bell mechanism chimes Dial features the John Nesbitt maker's mark with the 42 Market Street address This is a fascinating antique rotary wrap reel machine, presented in museum showcase condition; perfect for institutions or collectors with an interest in the cotton industry, especially within the Manchester heartland. Scale model of motor engine designed by Doll & Co. This is a model of a mill engine created in Nuremberg Germany by the Doll & Co. in the beginning of the 20th century. This is a horizontal twin engine machine, painted, nickel plated guard rail, belt operated ball governor, on custom shaped wooden base. Dental treadle drill, English manufacture, 1890-1940 The foot pedal is pushed up and down to power this dental drill. It is also known as a ‘treadle drill’. The drill removed areas of tooth decay. These can become infected and painful if untreated. The treadle drill was invented in 1871 by American dentist James Beall Morrison (1829-1917). He also designed dental chairs.
