About the Item

1935 set of two restored Kaare Klint "Barcelona-" or "The Red Chair" by Rud Rasmussen The set made in in mahogany, walnut and leather was according to the manufactor number by Rud. Rasmussen in 1935. According to Rud Rasmussen, the chairs are one of several limited editions of Kaare Klint's Barcelona chair, made in very small numbers by Rud Rasmussen during the first years after the red chair was originally designed in 1927. The chairs have been reupholstered at some point during their long life and retain the patina and wear consistent with age and use that many wish for - but the leather can be cleaned and color refreshed in case you wish for it. The frames feature excellent original wood work and have been checked and refinished by our cabinetmaker to ensure that they are in very good condition. Kaare Klint is considered to be the father of modern Danish design and established the principles of modern Danish furniture by combining a profound appreciation of traditional construction techniques with a modernist emphasis on function and a rejection of added ornaments tat did not contribute to the function. As Under Klint’s influence, several generations of talented Danish furniture designers, including Mogens Koch, Ole Wanscher, Børge Mogensen and Hans J. Wegner, renewed and extended the cabinetmaking tradition, emphasizing simple, pragmatic structures and the character of the materials. We ship our pieces to most of the world on regular basis at competetive shilling costs - so feel free to ask for a shipping quote.
