20th Century Joe Colombo Pair of Black Multichair Settees for B-Line '70s

About the Item

Multichair is a transformable system composed of two separate elements that easily transform it into a chair, conversation chair or relaxation chair. This is a product made with great care and with all the respect that a design icon deserves. Both cushions have an internal steel frame and are filled with polyurethane foam. The stretch fabric of the upholstery is glued, at the curves, to maintain the shape while the leather straps, with the help of pins and bushings, allow the elements to be held together. In addition to the technical content and quality of materials, Multichair also features a double soul, a little serious and a little informal, in perfect pop style. The two elements that compose the chair can also be used singularly. Part of permanent collection of the MoMA and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Please ask dimensions of the chairs in their different compositions.

He was recognized by Gropius as a significant talent and was quickly put at the head of the Bauhaus carpentry shop. His designs ranged from the human anatomical scale of the chair to the domestic scale of his modern houses, the urban street scale of the museum, and the monumental scale of major international commissions.
