About the Item

This armchair is a gorgeous version of Concha, one of the most iconic pieces designed by Martin Eisler (1913-1977), with a single seat and backrests made with wicker. "Concha" is the Portuguese word for "Shell" and the name is apparent in the design. The armchair was created in 1953 and produced by Móveis Artesanal and then Forma S.A. Móveis e Objetos de Arte. The armchair features an extremely reclined and comfortable shell-shaped seat that fits the body. Eisler designed the iron feet so that, from the same structure, it is possible to obtain variations of the chair. Other pieces combined this iron structure with different seat types in shell shapes: upholstered, made of strings, or leather straps. For this piece, the iron will receive anti-rust treatment and a new painting, with a brand new braided natural wicker.

The piece is made of an iron structure and upholstered seats and backrests. This singular design consists of upholstered geometrical backs and armrests with shapes that embrace the body. Indeed, a very comfortable and elegant piece. Forma S.A.
