About the Item

Pair of lounge chairs by American designer Paul Tuttle for Swiss brand Strässle Interntational in the 1970s. These chairs feature the soft cognac colored leather upholstery original to the pair. The “Zeta” style chairs get their name and design from the letter z, and the heavy chromed steel structures mimic this shape. They are strong and dynamic. We especially love the contrast of the organic leather with the metal structures. Each seat sits back to a create a comfortable angle. The quality of the pair is striking. They are in excellent vintage condition – the photos accurately depict the condition. Paul Tuttle was an American furniture designer who created pieces for over 50 years. As an apprentice for Frank Lloyd Wright, he was inspired by clean well-crafted lines. From 1967-1983, Tuttle was a designer for Strässle International and worked part time in Switzerland. He is known for sleek elegance and combining materials such as glass, leather, and metal. He emphasized material and craftsmanship in all his work. Strässle International is known primarily for their mid-century style pieces made in Europe in the 20th century.
