About the Item

Antique Rare Set Of SEVEN Gustav Stickley Bungalow Chairs circa 1900-01 - W7218 This is an extremely rare set of Gustav Stickley chairs from Circa 1901. The set of 7 are all in good condition with no replaced parts. We have been dealing for many years with Gustav Stickley furniture and this is the first time we’ve seen a set from 1901 with original finish, made out of oak. We started with set of 6 side chairs but few years later we found the seven chair an ARM CHAIR in a house in CORNING NY and we were able to buy this important chair. The owner of this chair was a 101 old lady grew up in that area in Big Flatt, NY and moved to Corning NY later on. This 1900-01 chair was purchased by her family in NY 1901 Buffalo exposition and she had the invoice by Gustav Stickley for $5. This arm chair is one on the very first of arm chair he made. The chair is in great condition with original finish with ORIGINAL RUSH SEAT. Gustav Stickley had these early set of chairs as #1289, with a hump back, tapered slats, and a notched seat rail. The leather seating has been re-upholstered with the finest quality black leather, and filled with cotton and hair (No foam!). These chairs model were in Buffalo expo in 1901. STURDY & STRONG, these chairs are ready for use in your home or office. (We also have the arm chair for this set. It is not pictured but is included in the set. We'll post the photo shortly.) The photos are posted! The last three photos are of the seventh chair. Please note: Most "Stickley" and “Charles Limbert” items and many Roycroft items online are reproductions, or outright fakes. For example, in 1974 a man named Alfred Audi, along with his wife Aminy, approached the widow of Leo Stickley before she passed. He purchased the L&JG Stickley company, along with the brand name "L&JG Stickley," and he manufactured furniture "In The Style" of the original Stickley work. Be careful of buyers who describe their items as being from a “Stickley School.” This is just a way to get you to believe the item is actually authentic, original Stickley. In most cases, it is not. We purchase most of our Stickley and Limbert furniture from well known collections in New York and in Philadelphia. We may pay a little more but we get the BEST. We have over 5,000 pieces of real Stickley, Roycroft, and Limbert furniture. We buy from collections in New York and Pennsylvania. We buy only the best. We pay a little more than other dealers, but we get only the very best. We don't deal with "problem" furniture. Watch 1stDibs for future listings of these pieces! - W7218
