Set of Six Tulu Chairs by Kazuhide Takahama for Simon Gavina
Located in Dronten, NL
The Tulu chair was designed by the Japanese designer Kazuhide Takahama for Simon International in 1966. The Tulu is one of the very first models that paved the way for the use of chrome-plated steel rod. The steel rod makes it possible to produce softly curved, extremely rounded structures. The back and seat upholstery is attached with zippers and completely removable. The dark blue Alcantara fabric is great, it is the Italian version of Ultrasuede. It feels like natural suede, but it is resistant to stains and discoloration; it can be washed in a washing machine. These elegant stackable chairs are in very good all original condition. They are an early production of Simon International and marked with a silver foil label inside the seat. This set was bought by the original owners in 1970 together with a Sarpi table...

In 1949, Gerli graduated with a degree in engineering and began his career a year later, opening his own architectural and industrial design practice. Gerli began experimenting with various materials such as resin, felt, and molded plywood, which led to designs he presented in 1951 at the 9th Triennale di Milano; his bent plywood armchair for Forma (1950s); and the three-legged Sommaruga Chair(1950s), which was made from resin reinforced molded felt on a steel base. Architecturally, the firm focused on residential and public buildings, as well as the renovation of historic Italian buildings. Notable architectural projects include the Cardiology Clinic in Laveno-Monbello (1950), the Ambasciatori Theater in Milan (1954), the renovation and restoration of the Castiglioni Palace (1903). Gerli was later joined by his two sons, Enrico and Guido, in the 1970s. In 1957 Gerli began a long and fruitful collaboration with the Borsani brothers, Fulgenzio and Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985)—founders of the Italian furniture manufacturing company Tecno. In 1968, Gerli and Osvaldo Borsani exhibited their revolutionary Graphis Office System (1967) at the 14th Triennale di Milano. The system, which was made up of just three basic elements, was heralded as a revolution in office furniture design because the system’s modular components allowed unlimited and customizable combinations, which could grow (or contract) with the company. The system remained a bestseller for decades and Tecno became synonymous for technologically-advanced design. The partnership between Gerli and Tecno lasted for more than 35 years, and resulted in many 20th-century design classics such as the T92 Butterfly Table (1960 with Mario Cristiani...

Set of 8 Vladimir Kagan Lucite Dining Chairs in Belgian Bouclé
Located in Culver City, CA
These chairs are absolutely stunning! Designed by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs Inc. in the 1990's, this stunning set of 8 dining chairs are Kagan at his post-modern finest. The chairs feature a very traditional slipper shape that is turned on its head by featuring a completely clear lucite pedestal body which then follows the length of the back of the chairs like a long acrylic spine. The acrylic pedestal base of these chairs give them the illusion that they're simply floating in the room. These fashionable dining chairs have been freshly reupholstered in a teddy-bear brown colored Belgian boucle and are not only easy on the eyes, but are super comfortable for those longer multiple course dinners with family and friends. With their neutral tan upholstery and the clear acrylic base, these chairs would effortlessly pair with almost any type of dining table. We currently have the chairs paired with a Paul Evans patchwork burl dining table...
