Meltdown Chair, PP Tube #1 White by Tom Price, Contemporary, Limited Edition
By Tom Price
Located in PARIS, FR
'Meltdown Chair, PP Tube #1 White' is a piece by English artist Tom Price, from the Meltdown Series. This chair is made entirely from polypropylene tubes, no other material is added. The artist assembles a stack of common plumbing tubes and then he presses it on a heated metal seat-shaper former. The ends of the tubes melt and fuse together. When they cool and subsequently harden, the shape of the seat is created. Tom Price thus alters the structural and aesthetic qualities of the plastic material, giving rise to interesting contrasts in texture and form within the same object. Launched in 2007, the Meltdown Series earned Tom Price widespread international acclaim for his innovative production processes and eye-catching approach to working with commonplace plastic products. The way of assembling the plastic material and the mostly unpredictable patterns created by the heating method ensure that every piece is unique and unrepeatable. This design pieces are true sculptural objects, while at the same time being fully functional and very robust. Meltdown Chairs are included in the permanent collections of several Museums, including SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (US), the Denver Art Museum (US), The Nelson Atkins Museum (US), Chatsworth House (UK), MKG Hamburg (Germany) and the Amore Pacific Museum (South Korea). Works from the Meltdown Series have been exhibited extensively throughout the USA, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. They have been included in many high-profile museum exhibitions, including SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (US), MAD Museum of Art and Design New York (US); The Mint Museum (US); Denver Art Museum (US); Design Museum Holon (Israel); Design Museum Gent (Belgium); NRW Forum Dusseldorf (Germany); The Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga (Latvia). They have also featured at international art and design fairs, including Design Miami Basel (Switzerland); Sao Paolo Design Festival (Brazil); Cheongju International Craft Biennale (South Korea), Design Days Dubai (United Arab Emirates); Gwangju Biennale (South Korea) and Lodz International Design Biennale (Poland). Finally, the series has been featured in multiple publications, including: The Campaign for Art...

Pair of Aesthetic Movement Small Folding Chairs E.W Godwin Manner
Located in Norwich, GB
A pair of Aesthetic Movement small walnut low folding decorative chairs with cane seats, in the manner of E.W. Godwin. Circa 1870s. Free delivery to the UK via a selected parcel company. The walnut frames are in very good condition and have their original patina, showing some age with use, they have been lightly waxed. One of the chairs cane seats professionally re-caned, and it has been aged to resemble the other original cane seat. This same chair has had the under rail replaced in oak with two bolts, as shown in photograph number 12. This was done many years ago - I would say about 80 plus years, looking at the construction. Also added at a similar time under the seat, one small rail either side. The wooden dome...

Customizable L.Ercolani Stacking Chair by Lucian R Ercolani
By Lucian Ercolani
Located in New York, NY
When decorating a space, functionality and aesthetic appeal are often regarded with equal importance. The STACKING CHAIR unites these two principles in a precise, streamlined form, deliberately designed for optimal comfort, ease of use and versatility. First launched in 1956, the STACKING CHAIR embraces the mid-century modern ideals of function and form with its humble, linear construction. The chair’s intentional, detail-oriented architecture reflects L.Ercolani’s long-standing commitment to utility — providing a simple yet gracious seat that effortlessly lends itself to any number of occasions and settings. Purpose-built for convenience, the outward-facing legs of the STACKING CHAIR allow the chairs to be stacked vertically when not in use. This, coupled with the chair’s ergonomic...

English Georgian Period Elm Ladderback Fireside Armchair with Rush Seat, c. 1800
Located in San Francisco, CA
An uncommon circa 1800 English Georgian period country ladderback fireside armchair in elm with woven rush seat. Delightfully proportioned, with the tall six-slat back “towering” over the extra-low seat, and the frame having a laid-back profile. Hand-crafted of solid elm, with nicely turned arms, legs, and stretcher. Stands on carved club feet in front and simple metal band-reinforced feet in back. Displays very handsome authentic antique character, color, and patina throughout. Natural woven rush seat is likely not original, though it does have some age to it, is period-appropriate, and complements the overall look. Designed to bring a hearthside sitter closer to the fire, with its seat also being at a perfect height for a child. Antique ladderback...
