About the Item

Lionel Jadot, Important Daybed in Cowhide, Vegetal Leather and Oak, C.2010 This stunning daybed, designed and crafted by Lionel Jadot, is a remarkable fusion of raw and transformed materials, as cowhide meets tanned leather. Made circa 2010, this one of a kind piece is inspired by the aesthetics of ancient Egypt. It embodies timeless elegance and exclusive craftsmanship, and was made to order for a interior design project in Brussels. Sturdy oak legs enhance its robust yet elegant appeal. A truly unique addition to any space, offering both great comfort and striking visual impact. Traces of use and patina on the leather and legs, very good overall condition. Signed by the artist. Belgian designer, decorator and artist Lionel Jadot embodies the ecological mutations of our time, which he masters intuitively. Born in 1969, he grew up in a Brussels chaiserie workshop, where his family had worked for six generations. He has since then nurtured a passion for transforming recycled materials. Since childhood, Jadot has created unique works, preferring sustainable objects to mass production. As an interior designer, he has just completed “Le Mix” in Brussels, a hotel and living space shaped with the help of fifty designers, offering an unforgettable experience of hospitality. These designers are often hosted in his Zaventem studio, a veritable incubator of talent. Lionel Jadot developed an obsession with recycling at an early age, finding the scraps from his family’s workshop an inexhaustible source of inspiration. He made his first stool at the age of six and pursued this passion at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, then alongside renowned craftsmen and architects. After taking over the family business at the age of 19, he gained valuable experience in management and design. In 2000, he set up his own studio, incorporating the principle of material recovery, and quickly achieved success. Lionel Jadot will receive the Designer of the Year award at the upcoming Maison&Objet, from September 5 to 9, 2024.

Dimensions: D 76.5 x W 190 x H 41 cm The founders, Mia and Torben Koed, decided to put their 30 years of experience into a new project. It was time for a change and a new challenge. The challenge was to build an ambitious design brand from the ground up with high-quality materials and great attention to the little details. With a drive to create new originals, the WOUD collection is founded upon the idea to look ahead instead of looking back and share the love for honest design. Therefore, we are eager to discover and develop new ideas whether it being in form, function or choice of material. MSDS STUDIO is a successful Canadian design studio that works in interior, furniture and lighting design. The designers behind the studio are Jessica Nakanishi and Jonathan Sabine. A couple who have mastered to get their name established at numerous of the world’s leading design brands in a few years. We are proud to be able to have three of their designs in our collection. The studio is dedicated to material exploration, rigour and resourcefulness. With a modern approach to design, they create innovative design that engages contemporary culture while staying true to the inheritance of craftsmanship. Their work synthesises very meticulous considerations of color, form and space, which results in simple designs. The Annular pendant was the product that started the collaboration of MSDS and WOUD. The design sparked a love at first sight reaction at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2015 and since then, our collaboration has evolved. With great chemistry and appreciation, the Study lamp...
