About the Item

This is an important "Cushion" Lounge Chair, executed by George Nakashima Studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania ca. 1954. The chair's frame is made of American Black Walnut with hand-shaved hickory spindles, and it has a seat made of birch plywood. The chair features two new cushions upholstered in an off-white fabric. It is guaranteed as an authentic Nakashima example. This chair measures 30.5 inches deep, 24 inches wide, and 33 inches high. It has a seat height of 16 inches. There are some minor surface blemishes, and there is a small white spot on the surface. The wood has a beautiful patina throughout. Overall, this chair is in very good to excellent condition. Please see photos. The chair is unsigned and we have not yet taken this to the Nakashima studio, though we are well versed in these George Nakashima pieces from this era. It was acquired from the family of the original owner and when purchasing it, the seller noted that it "has been in our family for 70+ years." If a future buyer would like to seek out an order card, I can share the name of the family with them after the sale.
