Living Room Rattan Set by Janine Abraham & Dirk Jan Rol - Chairs, Pouf, Mirror
Located in Roma, IT
Spectacular Mid-Century French Riviera complete living room set designed by Janine Abraham & Dirk Jan Rol and made in France during the late 1950s. This incredibly rare sculptural rattan set is considered the "Nirvana" of French Riviera organic design. The set includes two twin basketware lounge chairs, a round ottoman and a large oval mirror. Everything is in exceptional conditions and comes from the same project, making the wonderful light honey color of the rattan extremely even between the different objects. The basketware chairs were fully hand-crafted in curved rattan and hand-woven wicker. The perfect proportions of these chairs are mind-blowing. The center of the seating is enriched by a wonderful work in woven wicker. The seats are supported by a stunning black enameled frame in bent metal. The geometric frame and legs show Rol’s background in architecture and add modernity to the organic material of the seat. The ottoman has a round hourglass-shaped structure made in single pieces of rattan curved at different angles and kept together by a perfect work of woven wicker. The chairs and the ottoman are completed by a round cushion in an elegant white boucle fabric. The spectacular build quality make this set light yet extremely sturdy. The large oval mirror that completes the set is also in amazing conditions and follows the same design of the rest of set. The uniqueness of this set and the amazing conditions make it incredibly charming and a must have for all the French Riviera style lovers. Chairs Dimensions (cm): Depth - 87 Width - 88 Height - 92 Seat Height - 42 Ottoman (cm): Diameter - 58 Height - 31 Seat Height with cushion - 35 Mirror (cm): Height - 107 Width - 53 Depth - 5.5 French-born designer Janine Abraham studied at the École Camondo in Paris, graduating in 1952. She met Dutch-born designer Dirk Jan Rol at the studio of Jacques Dumond in 1955. The following year, in 1956, the pair showed their first collaborative work at the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs. Abraham and Rol launched their own agency in 1957, creating modernist furniture characterized by clean, elegant lines—notably the rattan and enameled metal Lemon and Corolle chairs (both 1957), the sleek Sapelli wood and lacquered metal Plywood Chair (1960), and the steel and black vinyl Sofa...

Rock Sofa by Fred Rigby - for St. Vincents
Located in Antwerpen, BE
The Rock Sofa by FRED RIGBY as part of the 5/5/5 Collection. An assemblage of 5 objects by 5 designers, celebrating 5 years of St. Vincents. With complete freedom and over a year in the making, the result is an original and inspiring assemblage of objects that eschew trends and reflect the unique narratives of their makers. The Rock Sofa, exclusively made for St. Vincents, is inspired by the stone clusters and rock formations seen on beaches. Asymmetric and informal, like rocks jutting out the earth, it invites the sitter to relax without imposing a fixed seating position. The tactile Pierre Frey fabric gives it a light and soft quality matching its intended use as a lounge chair. FRED RIGBY is a London-based furniture and interior design practice founded by Fred Rigby in 2008. The independent studio works across scales from complete interiors to sculptural yet functional furniture that adds playfulness, presence and comfort to everyday life. Fred Rigby Studio has designed interiors for Villa Lena in Tuscany, Francis Gallery...

Danish Cabinetmaker High-Back Chair with Stained Beech Arms, Denmark, 1950s
Located in Utrecht, NL
Throughout Scandinavia, there is a long history of pride in craftsmanship using natural materials like wood. This is especially true for Denmark, and this beautiful high-back chair is a great representation of the quality and craftsmanship of Danish master cabinetmakers. “Danish Modern” is a recognized term around the world standing for the characteristic style of Danish design created during the mid-20th century. Danish designers were often trained architects themselves, resulting in masterful structures as seen in this high-back chair’s frame. The gentle but crisp angles created from the stained beech are the main decorative elements, especially on the exposed arms that extend to form the front legs effortlessly. However, it is the partially upholstered arms that and robust back that set this model apart. The upholstery engages with the frame uniquely, accentuating the outlines and the beautiful stained beech as well. From the lightly curved “ears” to the lightly reclined back and the tapered legs, the design showcases the best characteristics of Mid-Century Modern design. In service of the “form follows function” ideal of the era, the design is completed by a thick seat cushion that overreach the seat, thus aiding the ultimate lounging experience. The beechwood’s smoothness paired with the soft upholstery’s rich colour and texture creates an elegant, stylish aesthetic. Looking at this chair, it becomes easy to understand the reason behind the major rise in popularity that Mid-Century Modern has been experiencing for decades now. The natural and unfading beauty of the wooden frames and the quality fabrics help to enhance the genius of the structure. With an outstanding design and craftsmanship, this Danish cabinetmaker chair...
