George Mulhauser Mr. Chair & Ottoman by Plycraft

About the Item

This listing is for one chair with matching ottoman. The price you see is for one chair with ottoman. There are two chairs and ottoman sets available. Opt to buy one set or both chairs with ottomans by selecting the quantity at check out. The two chairs have slight differences. Read the description below and let us know if you want chair A or B when you order. Mid-Century Modern Mr. Chairs designed by George Mulhauser. There’s something indescribably awesome about these Mulhauser chairs in tufted white upholstery. Cool, casual and comfortable in their skin. Anywhere they go, is exactly where they’re supposed to be. If these chairs became sentient, they would ask for a highball and a cigarette. What you’re looking at are two, early, very similar George Mulhauser “Mr Chairs”. They were procured from the same estate, but are most certainly from different production runs a year or two apart. Both chairs and ottomans swivel on 5-star metal bases and share similar dimensions. Each chair rocks back and returns to upright against the tension of a metal coil spring. The differences are as follows. Chair “A” — Upholstered in tufted white Naugahyde — Back cushion is locked in with welting — Metal bases are painted brown along sides — Slightly more height on chair and ottoman stems — Two-position, double-buttons on headrest straps Chair “B” — Upholstered in tufted white vinyl — Back cushion is screwed in (has piping but not locked in by welt) — Metal bases are painted black along sides — Single-button, single-position on headrest straps We’re certain you won’t find a more spectacular set of Mr. Chairs anywhere. Our in-house restoration team did a complete tear-down and rebuild to ensure every inch was inspected and delicately restored. A few loose buttons were retied and the fabric was completely rejuvenated to gleaming bright white using our proprietary techniques. Although the wood backs and under-arms were already in good condition, we went the extra distance to make sure every scratch was mitigated. 5 coats of hand buffed finish were applied to the walnut and new feet were attached on bases to finalize the restoration. Chair (A) 38.5” Wide x 38” Deep x 39.5” High (14.5” seat height) Ottoman (A) 25.25” Wide x 19.25” Deep x 13.25” High

Tulip Group Lounge Chairs in Rosewood by K M Wilkins for G-Plan of England
By G Plan Furniture, Charles and Ray Eames, Thonet, Percival Lafer
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Matching sofa also available and sold separately (see last pic). This incredible set was purchased new in Glasgow, Scotland in 1970. We acquired from the original owners who kept them in pristine condition. Designed by K.M. Wilkins for G-Plan of England, this line is appropriately named the "Tulip Group". Wilkins also designed the the well known Housemaster Chair, often misattributed to Ib Kofod Larsen. The "Tulip" design is demonstrated by the rosewood panels which are molded into curves that mimic a blossoming flower. Offered almost exclusively in teak, this rosewood set is truly a rare find. The rich, amber-red panels are perfectly complimented by the chrome hardware and velvet fabric. The luxuriously soft velvet is in amazing condition. The color is difficult to describe, but in our opinion, it's a cross between olive-green and taupe-brown. Of course the refraction of light on velvet can magnify or minimize the tones and highlights depending on the angle and environment. Both chairs hover on their original Magnum Orbit chrome...

Hand Carved High Back Witco Tiki Throne King Chairs in Faux Leopard Fur
By Witco, William Westenhaver / Witco
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Take a walk on the wild side, or maybe just have a seat there with scepter in hand. Each anthropomorphic gorilla-arm-chair has been recovered in high-quality, cruelty free, faux-fur that very much resembles the look and feel of leopard fur. Each high back is adorned with two hand-carved conquistador heads donning their iconic helmets. These highly collectible and hard-to-find thrown chairs were born of the jet-set era. The 1960s was the golden age of air travel and Americans were absolutely fascinated with “Exotica.” Ephemera from exotic tropical lands around South Asia were all the rage and gave birth to an explosion of tiki motifs in popular American culture. This project was a complete tear-down and rebuild. Every section was unbolted and individually restored. This sinuous, dark cedar has been painstakingly detailed by our in-house restoration team to both preserve the patina and address any imperfections in the wood. Lightly recolored and clear-coated to accentuate and preserve the character. The seats and backs were professionally reupholstered, and the results speak for themselves. We're more than certain these will exceed expectations. Robert Post Junior and Artist William Westenhaver Created Witco...
