Pair of 'Mrs' Lounge Chair by George Mulhauser for Plycraft

About the Item

A pair of American walnut plywood lounge chairs from the 1960's by American designer George Mulhauser. This larger version is seen with the more rarely wooden legs. The smaller famous version, "Mr. Chair' that George Mulhauser designed in 1959, has become a true American design icon ever since. The chairs was produced by the American company "Plycraft". This company initially made boats in the early 1950's, hence the name "Plycraft". Plycraft had great expertise in the field of plywood as seen in the organically formed seat that consists of one large molded plate of wood. These striking chairs are in very good condition, reupholstered in ivory silk of the highest quality.
