About the Item

Vintage Danish design Colonial lounge chair and ottoman, by Ole Wanscher, 1950s Designed by Ole Wanscher, one of the leading figures of the 20th century Scandinavian design movement. The colonial chair is considered by many to be Ole Wanscher’s masterpiece, influenced by the 18th century colonial period furniture. Compared to other colonial style chairs from the midcentury era, Wanscher’s design can be easily distinguished by its clean and elegant lines. Our set was produced by Poul Jeppesen during the late 1950s, and comes in beautiful exotic hardwood with rattan seating. Both ottoman and armchair have been re-finished, and new leather pillows have been custom made. Origination: Denmark, 1950s. Labelled by manufacturer. Condition: Excellent, minor signs of use. Wood has been refinished, new leather pillows, caning is intact. Dimensions: Armchair Height 84 cm Depth 64 cm Width 58 cm Seating height 44 cm Ottoman: Height 44 cm Depth 36 cm Width 58 cm.
